Woolungosaurus glendowerensis |
|||||||||
Woolungosaurus was a prehistoric marine reptile known as an elasmosaur. The long necks of elasmosaurs, often comprised 50 percent or more of the total body length. It is thought they lurked in the darkness and then struck upward with their long necks. This idea is supported by the slightly upward position of the eyes on the skull. Early Cretaceous (110 MYA). Australia. Piece created as part of an illustration portfolio of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. Oil on board, 11x14.
