Archaeopteryx lithographica

Discovered in Solnhofen of Bavaria, Archaeopteryx is considered by many as the first bird. This crow-sized dinosaur sported a scaled snout, clawed wings and a long tail covered with feathers. Late Jurassic. Image created for client: Discovery Channel. Oil on masonite, 13 x 19".
