White Splendor Bali Mynah
The aviary enclosure at the local zoo was beginning to fill with morning light and one could see gray shapes flitting through the dappled light and foliage. Suddenly, this bird hopped out of the cool dim onto a sunlit branch, glowing in the dazzling brilliance of its white feathers. A ruffle of feathers and then gone again. Bali mynahs are members of the starling family and are an endangered species with estimates ranging upwards of a few dozen birds in the wild. Oil on board, 10 x 13". |
